The hat of a countersunk rivet is almost inverted, with a 120 degree countersink in the integrated washer. A countersunk rivet is used in countersunk holes and once set is flush to the surface. They are used in tracks where the head will not protrude into sliding tracks or rollers.
Countersunk rivets are different from standard pop rivets due to the 120 degree tapered, countersunk design. This leaves behind a flat head that runs flush with the installation surface, as opposed to a standard pop rivet which leaves behind a domed head that protrudes above the surface. Because of this they are commonly used in tracks, sliding rollers, pulleys and applications where a flush surface is key.

How to measure a Rivet: First, measure the diameter of the rivet itself with a dial caliper. Then, just like measuring a bolt, measure the underside of the rivet head to the end of the rivet head. Make sure that you do not measure to the end of the mandrel, you only want the length of the HAT and washer. The grip range of the rivet will be 1/8" shorter than the measured length.
