For starters, the helmet helps block the spatter of welding sparks and spatter produced during the welding process from reaching the eyes, face and head. Helping to protect the eyes from exceptionally bright light and rapid changes in brightness is another safety benefit of a welding helmet. Without protection, eyes can be temporarily or permanently injured by the intensity of light produced by welding. Eyes also have difficulty adjusting to rapid brightness changes while welding in dark locations, which can be both a productivity and safety issue. The helmet’s design allows for compatibility with select disposable welding respirators, including the 3M™ 8515, 8212, 8214, 8512, and 8514 Particulate Welding Respirators, to help provide respiratory protection for applications where metal fumes may be present. This lightweight welding helmet also meets the high impact requirements of ANSI Z87.1-2010.*Switching time is verified at temperatures greater than 73° F (23°C)For more than a century, 3M has applied innovation and technology to improving our customers’ lives and supporting their business goals.
