Elegant French porcelain display plate featuring a classic pâte-sur-pâte cameo scene in white slip against a deep cobalt ground. The raised translucent figures depict a mythological charioteer in motion, a technique developed in 19th-century Limoges that required multiple layers of liquid porcelain to be hand-applied and carved before firing, creating a sculptural, marble-like relief. Marked Charraud, Limoges, France on the reverse. Gilt bronze stand included, adding gallery-style presentation. A beautiful example of Neoclassical revival artistry and one of the most technically demanding porcelain decoration methods.
