Air rings and air snap gages encircle a part externally, providing an outer diameter measurement. Crafted with a ground, hardened steel body, they feature lapped, polished surfaces and integrated air gage nozzles. Upon placement over the workpiece, the resulting back pressure is detected by the air gage display, indicating the part's diameter. Air Rings are available in 2 and 3 jet configurations, with the latter checking for three-lobe out-of-round conditions in centerless ground parts undetectable by two-jet gages. Both air rings and air probes exhibit optimal wear life when using thru-hole or center-jet styles, if applicable.
