"Jumping and Standing" is a performance by renowned Japanese sound artist Akio Suzuki, featuring five toy rabbits, presented at Musashino Art University in 1984. This recording was something Mr. Suzuki had hoped would see the light of day, and it's not meant to be listened to in hushed silence. Instead, it captures the laughter and natural communication that Mr. Suzuki always sought to create in his performances. The beginning features the audience's laughter at the rabbits' antics, gradually drawing the listener in as the toy rabbits, stripped of their instruments, begin to tap and play, creating discordant noises with pieces of wood, metal scraps, and a broken open-reel deck.
Mastered by Kiyoharu Kuwayama (Lethe), includes an insert with text by Mr. Suzuki himself, limited to 300 copies.
