This elegant teacup and saucer in a bold yellow & white was made by Aynsley in the 1940's-50's. It features a corset-shaped cup with a coiled loop handle and matching saucer. Both pieces have gold bands dividing each into three sections with gold leaf sprays 'dancing' between the lines. Gold bands also decorate the gently scalloped rims, the base, the handle and the inside of the cup. The backstamp reads, "(Crown)/ Est. 1776/ Aynsley/ England/ Bone China" and the pattern no. C656. Sizes: cup - 2 5/8 in. tall x 3 3/8 in. diameter; saucer - 5 5/8 in. diameter. Condition is very good with no chips, cracks, or repairs; there is one stain on the saucer in the center (see photos 6 and 7). This condition is reflected in the price.
