Crafted from boxwood, this intricately carved ink line features a frog perched on a curling lily pad. Remarkably slim and invaluable, it measures 7.5 inches. An exquisite, antique wooden tool, it's believed to have originated in ancient Egypt and China. The sumitsubo, a significant spiritual emblem, was traditionally left in shrines or temples. Today, it's gifted to master carpenters, who often donate it to shrines. Used for marking wood to be cut, it functions similarly to a Western chalk line. Its spacious well holds a silk cotton wad soaked in ink, allowing it to pick up ink for marking when drawn through.

  • Intricate boxwood carving: Frog on a curling lily pad
  • Exquisitely thin and irreplaceable: 7.5 inches long
  • Vintage and exceptional quality
  • Elegant wooden traditional Chinese/Japanese ink line
