FABRICLIVE 81 by Monki

While many DJs hone their skills in small clubs before gaining wider recognition, Monki (born Lucy Monkman) rose to prominence through radio broadcasts. Growing up in London, she tuned into pirate stations and BBC Radio 1's specialist shows, eventually securing a prestigious position on the latter. After starting on local and online stations, including a 3-year stint on Rinse FM, her mentor Annie Mac helped her land her first major gig in 2009. Since then, Monki has performed at clubs and festivals worldwide, hosts regular 'Monki & Friends' nights at fabric, and releases an annual compilation EP. She also heads Zoo Music, supporting emerging artists across her radio shows, club sets, and compilations. 'FABRICLIVE 81', curated by Monki, blends old school classics, bass-led exclusives, club smashers, and house flavors, with vocal dubs by Manchester's Chimpo and Birmingham's Slick Don adding a lively touch, mirroring Monki's energetic performances and radio shows.
