The Fisher Space Pen is used by astronauts after rigorous testing by NASA (National Aeronautics and Space Administration). While regular ballpoint pens rely on gravity to feed ink to the ballpoint, the Space Pen uses pressurized nitrogen gas to push the ink. This allows it to write upside down without interruption, and also functions smoothly in zero gravity, underwater, and in extreme temperatures (-34 to +121°C). Furthermore, the special, viscous ink is hermetically sealed, preventing drying and allowing for storage of over 100 years. This durability, regardless of conditions, is a key feature of the Space Pen.
