Introduced in 1960, the M60, often mislabeled as a Patton, was an enhanced version of the M48, featuring a 105mm main gun, straight front slope, and unique modifications. It was the last U.S. tank to use homogenous steel and a driver's floor escape hatch. Between 1986 and 2002, Egypt acquired numerous M60A3 and M60A1RISE variants, becoming the largest operator of M60A3s. In 1990, Iraq invaded Kuwait, leading to a U.S.-led coalition's formation. The U.S. Marine Corps, midway through re-equipping from M60A1s to M1A1 Abrams, used M60s in the 1st, 3rd, and 8th battalions during the conflict. Between February 24th and 28th, 1991, the USMC successfully defeated Iraqi forces in Kuwait.
