Human Papillomavirus 8-Species Panel - Lab Screening Test from at-Home Urine Collection Kit

While not a substitute for pap smears, growing evidence shows that HPV testing of high-risk strains of human papillomavirus like 16, 18, 31, 33, 45, 52, 58, and 67 detect potential precancerous cells earlier than pap smears, especially in the case of cervical cancer, where HPV 16 and 18 are estimated to be responsible for approximately 70% of cervical cancers alone. For women aged 30-65, the US Preventative Services Task Force recommends either a pap smear every 3 years, high-risk HPV testing every 5 years, or high-risk HPV testing in combination with a pap smear (co-testing) every 5 years. High-risk HPV testing is also recommended after an abnormal result from a pap smear. This 8 strain HPV panel reports on many high risk HPV types which have the potential to cause various types of cancer, especially in women. We can only legally run this test to detect HPV in women, as men are predicted to have approximately 1/200th of the HPV DNA in their urine that women excrete.
