■ What is SACD (Super Audio CD)?
Super Audio CD is a next-generation music media developed in 1999 by Sony and Philips. Super Audio CD uses the Direct Stream Digital (DSD) method, which records music signals like rarefaction and compression waves of air, and is different from CDs recorded using the PCM method. In addition, it has a capacity of about 7 times that of a CD, 4.7GB, and in principle, it ensures a playback band exceeding 100kHz and a dynamic range within the audible range exceeding 120dB, so it can more faithfully reproduce the original sound that the artist and producer have in mind. This product is a hybrid disc with a dual structure of a CD layer and a Super Audio CD layer. Therefore, the CD layer can be played on a regular CD player.
