The collaboration between Daimler-Benz and Chrysler, initiated in 1998, bore fruit with the introduction of several new Jeep Brand vehicles. In 2001, the long-lived Cherokee (XJ) was succeeded by a new Jeep Cherokee (KJ). A seven-passenger Jeep Commander was introduced in 2006. The Jeep Compass and Patriot (MK), as well as the Jeep Wrangler and Wrangler Unlimited (JK), all debuted in 2007. A new Jeep Cherokee (KK) followed in 2008. In 2009, the parent company Chrysler Group LLC formed a global alliance with Fiat SpA.
