This is a J-type thermocouple wire with black braided outer fiberglass insulation, which is good up to about 400 C Celsius or 752 F Fahrenheit. The inner fiberglass insulation of this type J wire is color coded to the ANSI standard, red = (-) and white = (+). This J-type thermocouple wire can be used to make your own Type J thermocouples for a wide range of applications, especially in industry, manufacturing and scientific temperature measurement applications, or to make your own type J extension wire. The iron constantan wire is made to standard J-type thermocouple specifications. It is sold in 10 yard (30 ft) packages, if you need a longer wire look for a different listing.
