Johnny Mathis LP Record Set of 3

A veteran singer who has been singing since the 1950s. His first record was released in 1956, the year of Elvis Presley's debut. I'm quite old myself, but of course, I wasn't around at the time. Besides, I didn't really think of Mathis as an R&B artist, at least not initially. In the 80s, I enjoyed AOR and listened to it often, so looking back, I think Johnny's voice and sophisticated sound fit me well. The most talked-about album in this set is ①, and it wasn't when it was first released, but in the 21st century. The original song for "Love Never Felt Good," which was included on Michael Jackson's "Xscape" released in 2014 after his death, is from this album. When Johnny sings it, it sounds very Pop, but since he co-wrote it with Paul Anka, I think it's a satisfying result, even now. And the ballads, where he shows his true ability as "Mr. Duet" (I don't know if he's actually called that), are also memorable. But here, I have to reveal something? One of those songs is "Love Won't Let Me Wait," a duet with Deniece Williams. Yes, that famous song that Luther Vandross covered in '88. Huh? That was a cover? I had completely believed it was Luther's song for years. Luther often "eats the original," as the saying goes, but I never expected this one too. The number one Luther fan in Japan would be shocked.

The other two albums are also adult albums with a romantic flavor that are not inferior...
