Following the end of production in the United States, Levi Strauss Japan planned production in the Philippines to Japanese specifications, and in pursuit of vintage authenticity, they selected fabric from Cone Mills, known for its vintage Levi's fabrics.
This results in exceptional vertical fading, and even experts rate the color fading as comparable to 66 or BIGE.
The fabric uses CONE-XXX7 from Cone Mills. XXX7 denim is a special denim created with the image of the deep indigo pure indigo of the 1933 501XX, which is preserved in the archives of the San Francisco headquarters.
