The B-24 Liberator, first taking flight in 1939, entered service in 1941 and was the most mass-produced American aircraft during World War II, with 18,482 units built. It served in all theaters of the war and undertook diverse missions, from long-range bombing and submarine patrol to transporting high-priority cargo and VIPs. DIAMOND LIL was the 18th B-24 produced. Today, Diamond Lil is one of only two airworthy B-24s.
