The battle for Iwo Jima, from February 19 to March 26, 1945, was one of the most intense in the Pacific Campaign. Securing the isolated island and its crucial airfields cost over 6,800 American lives and injured nearly 19,000. Dragon Armor has introduced a 1/72 scale model of a vehicle that played a significant role in this assault. This American LVT(A)-4 amphibious vehicle, an upgrade from the LVT(A)-1, boasted a full turret and M2 or M3 75mm howitzer from the M8 Gun Motor Carriage. A total of 1,890 LVT(A)-4s were produced, many seeing action at Iwo Jima in 1945. Its 75mm weapon was effective in targeting Japanese fortifications during amphibious landings.
