Hopewell Furnace was an early American industrial community that flourished in Pennsylvania from 1771 to 1883, producing iron and iron objects for sale. It is now a part of the National Park System. Firebacks are designed to rest on the floor of the hearth, but fireback supports may also be used to hold the fireback upright and raise it off the hearth if extra height is desired.
