Pennsylvania South Wind StationSounds Diner

The South Wind was among three daily trains serving between Chicago and Miami. Despite its stainless steel build, it sported Pennsylvania's "Fleet of Modernism" two-tone red and gold paint. This all-coach train boasted a seven-car set, including dining and observation cars. In 1947, Atlantic Coast Line and Florida East Coast contributed matching-colored cars. During peak seasons, the train often lengthened with heavyweight sleepers. Later, the consist varied, but original South Wind cars stood out on the PRR.
