Grade 8 flat washers that are plain have no finish or coating. Grade 8 flat washers have a round outer diameter and thin inner diameter punched to the size of the bolt or screw size. Grade 8 flat washers are normally used to distribute loads of threaded bolts, screws and nuts evenly as the fastener is tightened. Washers are used in conjunction with bolts or screws to spread force the load of the fastening preventing pull-through of the fastener head. Additionally, Flat Washers may be used to provide ease of movement for spinning parts, or when the hole holding the fastener assembly is larger than the finishing nut.
