Predicament by All in the Wild

In the heart of Aberdeen, Saskatchewan, a dramatic scene unfolded between a snowy owl and its prey. This image captures a moment in the ongoing struggle for survival. The owl, perched on a power pole, repeatedly flew down to the ground, its behavior piquing my curiosity. Through my binoculars, I couldn't discern the exact cause, but I knew something unusual was happening. Venturing into the field, I discovered it had been swathed but not combined, with grain still present and mice aplenty. The owl was hunting, flying down to flush out its prey. Remarkably, it tolerated my presence, allowing me to capture this shot with my 600mm lens. Usually, such a photograph takes days or even weeks, but luck was on my side this time, and I managed it within 15 minutes.
