This is a very rare New Zealand original pressing of The Beatles' debut album, "Please Please Me." The record is a mono pressing.
This is an original pressing from 1963. The label changed to blue the following year, so the silver, heavyweight label makes this a highly valuable piece.
New Zealand pressings are known for their sound quality, and in my personal opinion, this one has excellent high-frequency clarity. It's the kind of record that makes you want to listen while gazing at sheep under a clear sky.
The record matrix numbers are Side A: XEX-421, Side B: XEX-422.
- Title: Please Please Me
- Artist: The Beatles
- Record Number: PMCM 1202
- Tracklist: Love Me Do, I Saw Her Standing There, etc.
- Record Speed: 33 1/3 RPM
- Record Type: LP
The jacket has a vinyl coating on the front, but the material is thin and seems prone to damage. There are no splits, but there is some peeling on the spine lettering. There is writing on the upper part of the back cover.
When held up to the light, the record shows scattered scratches and marks on both sides. However, when played, there is some surface noise in places, but it's not overly distracting. I was able to enjoy it without any skipping on my player.
There is a small amount of writing on the second side of the label.
It comes with a white record sleeve, but it's uncertain if it's the original.
Thank you for looking.
