Solar Power Systems for Rural Peru by Morningstar

To boost development and enhance life in remote villages, Peru's government initiated the most extensive rural electrification project to date. The National Rural Electrification Plan (NREP) aims to provide electricity to 96% of Peruvians, unlocking access to education, healthcare, and global connectivity. Phase One targets 175,000 homes and 3,000 community buildings, benefiting nearly one million Peruvians within five years. Given the impracticality of traditional grid expansion, NREP turned to renewable energy. Tozzi Green, an Italian renewable energy specialist, won the tender to implement a solar solution on this vast scale. The plan involves three solar-powered energy centers: high-capacity AC Energy Stations for clinics and schools, and residential DC Energy Boxes for homes. The Morningstar charge controller is the core electronic component, powering homes safely and efficiently. The DC Energy Box, a comprehensive home energy solution, includes a Morningstar charge controller, battery box, output power channel, USB ports, and a mobile app for data collection.
