These are "the best" solar cells, unbelievably better compared to the rigid cells. If you've worked with the regular mono or poly cells out of China, just think about how many you've broken! Or the headache of welding the backs of the cells in long strips. Another point that makes Sunpower so special - they (a) perform better in low light, and (b) pass current from other cells in the same series through a poorly lit cell with less resistance. This means you can avoid the use of diodes if you want (even altogether), and harvest more power in poor lighting conditions. One more point - the voltage generated per cell is twice that of traditional wafers, so you can build smaller usable panels.
