We're thrilled to introduce the TH-57 Sea Ranger to our collection! Upon completing Primary Flight Training in the T-34 Mentor or T-6 Texan II, Navy, USMC, and USCG flight students opting for rotary-wing would have headed to Naval Air Station Whiting Field, where they'd first climb into a military helicopter, the TH-57. Trainers hold a special place in pilots' hearts, making it an honor to tag one.The TH-57:Derived from the commercial Bell Jet Ranger 206, the TH-57 Sea Ranger has been instrumental in rotary-wing pilot training, supporting primary, intermediate, and advanced flight instruction across multiple U.S. and select international military branches. Powered by a single Rolls Royce Allison 250-C20J turbofan engine, with a maximum airspeed of 138 miles per hour, this versatile helicopter has also served in photo, chase, and utility missions, as well as various warfare simulations within the U.S. NAVY's Atlantic Undersea Test and Evaluation Center. The TH-57B was first introduced in 1982 and is set to be fully retired and replaced by the TH-73 Thrasher in 2024.The tags:We're excited to release two TH-57 tags tomorrow: one from a TH-57B (BuNo 163316/Modex 159) and one from a TH-57C (BuNo 162067/Modex 103). The C, an upgraded version of the B, was used for instrument training, while the B was used for initial familiarization flights. Both tags, cut from removed baggage compartment doors, come in six variants: Orange, White, Modex, Orange/White/Black (tri-color), Roundel, and Roundel/Orange (quad color).Modex tags feature orange and black colors with portions of black modex stenciling. Roundel tags display red, white, and blue colors, with some being tri-color and others bi-color. Fulfillment is random.Roundel/Orange tags are rare quad-color tags (six total between both aircraft), featuring Red, White, Blue, and Orange paint. All tags come with grey printed tag art and are accompanied by a card from BVR. The Bs and Cs have subtle exterior paint differences and each comes on a card unique to its type.An Orange, Black, and White Combo, featuring a TH-57B Modex tag and a White TH-57C tag, is also available.Tags from TH-57B 163316 are listed as TH-57B Variant, while those from TH-57C 162067 are listed as TH-57C Variant, e.g., TH-57B Roundel or TH-57C Orange.
