The Lockheed L-1049 Super Constellation, or 'Super Connie', is a four-engine propeller-driven commercial airliner crafted by Lockheed Corporation. It boasts the signature triple-tail design and distinctive dolphin-shaped fuselage shared by all Constellation models. An enhanced version of the L-049, it was stretched by 18 feet to rival the DC-6. After acquiring majority shares in Trans World Airlines (TWA) in 1939, Howard Hughes commissioned Lockheed to secretly develop an airliner, as his own Hughes Aircraft was legally barred from supplying TWA. The result was the groundbreaking Constellation, with TWA purchasing the first 40 off the production line, becoming the largest civilian operator of Connies. This model measures 4.5" in length and 4.75" in width, designed as an adult collectible suitable for ages 14 and up.
