This is a rigid raw denim that recreates the fit, fabric, and details of the original 501, which was the first to use a lot number.
It faithfully reproduces the details of the 1890 501(R), such as suspender buttons and a cinch back, as well as a relaxed fit and light-ounce fabric. This pair of jeans, sewn with linen thread from a harness maker, allows you to easily create a rugged, masculine workwear look when paired with a simple T-shirt.
This model is a LVC model made in Japan using new 9oz organic cotton blue denim. In 1890, the lot number '501' was first used for Levi's classic blue jeans.

This was also the year that Levi Strauss & Co.'s exclusive patent for rivets expired, allowing other companies to use rivets, which are essential for the durability of jeans and jackets, in their clothing.

To deal with the anticipated competition, Levi's printed 'XX' on its products to indicate the strength of the denim. All products made with the highest quality materials were assigned a lot number starting with 5.

This is a 9-ounce light denim made from unrefined fabric (kibata), which is the original form of denim.

The indigo dye is light, and it tends to shrink and fade more easily than in other years.
