The Manifold Absolute Pressure sensor (MAP Sensor) measures manifold pressure through changing voltage and sends the information to the vehicles onboard computer. The computer uses this and other inputs to calculate the correct amount of fuel delivered to the cylinders. Some things that can cause the MAP sensor failure are hoses getting clogged by contaminates, damage from intense engine heat, or vibration damage from prolonged exposure in the engine compartment.
