Historically, malgarr shields were paired with liyangayil clubs for combat. I've replicated their shape in my art. The Kwambee djak, or common tree fern, was a staple food during the Warendj season or cooler months. Its pithy trunk and new frond curls were consumed. Tree ferns have a nutty flavor. Each piece is handcrafted in Australia from Australian Red Cedar timber and comes with an information card detailing the artist, artefact, and design, all based on traditional South East Australian symbols.
