A photo collection by Werner Bischof, the legendary Swiss photographer who passed away at the young age of 38. Initially aspiring to be a painter, Bischof later became interested in photography and studied under Hans Finsler. He established his own studio in the 1930s, primarily working in fashion photography. From the 1940s onwards, he became a staff photographer for "du/ドゥ," covering war-torn European countries and gaining international recognition as a photojournalist.
This book is a best-of collection summarizing Bischof's career. It includes artistic portraits and still lifes from the 1930s, post-war photojournalism from the 1940s, and photojournalism from various parts of the world, including Japan and Korea, from the 1950s.
