Irradiating strontium (sulfate), cadmium, indium, iodine, and barium (chloride) with soft gamma radiation results in characteristic Ka X-rays from these materials. X-ray spectra are recorded using a gamma spectrometer consisting of a scintillation counter, pulse height analyzer, and recorder. After calibrating the spectrometer, the constant of the energies of the X-ray lines is determined using Moseley's law.
