In 1963, fans eagerly anticipated reliving the Giants' inaugural San Francisco pennant, a dramatic three-game playoff with the Dodgers, and the seven-game World Series culminating in a tense 1-0 finale that crowned the Yankees repeat champions. Or, witness if the expansion, 120-loss New York Mets could fare better on the tabletop. This year saw Dodger Maury Wills set a record with 104 stolen bases, teammate Tommy Davis lead the NL batting .346 and driving in 153 runs, Don Drysdale top the NL with 25 wins and 232 strikeouts, and Sandy Koufax lead with a 2.54 ERA and 216 strikeouts. However, the powerful Giants, led by Willie Mays, Orlando Cepeda, Felipe Alou, and Willie McCovey, along with a formidable pitching rotation, remained undefeated. In the AL, New York won 96 games, led by AL MVP Mickey Mantle, Roger Maris, Rookie of the Year Tom Tresh, Elston Howard, and Bill Skowron, supported by top pitchers Ralph Terry, Whitey Ford, and Bill Stafford. This was also the finest hitting season for Hall of Fame outfielder Frank Robinson, leading 98-win Cincinnati with a pair of 20-game winners. Future Hall of Famers like Hank Aaron, Ernie Banks, Roberto Clemente, Harmon Killebrew, Al Kaline, Brooks Robinson, Jim Bunning, and Warren Spahn also shone. Each team has 27 cards, featuring two-sided cards for basic, advanced, and super-advanced play.
